KRC Non Life Property

KRC Property Insurance

Property Insurance protects your business against physical damage to, or loss of, your assets. Assets, broadly defined, include the area in which your business operates and the property housed there. In the case of catastrophes like fire, explosion, theft, or vandalism, property insurance helps cover your costs - whether it's to repair damaged property or replace what you've lost.

There are two ways you are covered for property insurance:

  • The property that is actually insured In terms of property, some policies cover basic equipment (building structure, furniture, inventory, equipment, and supplies); others insure money and securities, such as lost revenue or cash on the premises.
  • The type of events that lead to the loss Events that do damage are known as perils or causes of loss, and include weather-related events such as lightning strikes or storms, or human causes such as robbery or riots.

Office Loss Prevention Tips

Cost effective loss prevention tips to significantly reduce risks to business assets.

Fire Protection

  • Provide serviced, multi-purpose fire extinguishers in your premises and instruct all staff in their use.
  • Avoid overloading of electrical outlets, particularly in older buildings equipped with fuses instead of circuit breakers.
  • If existing electrical service is inadequate, ensure that a professional electrician does the required electrical modifications.
  • Crime Protection

Ensure that all entry doors have deadbolt locks with a

minimum one-inch bolt into the strike plate.

Secure exposed exterior door hinge pins to prevent their

      removal.

Protect all grade floor glass with the use of bars, metal

screens or burglary resistant glazing materials.

Install a burglar alarm system, which is monitored offsite

Computer Equipment Protection

  • Clamp or lock PC's to desks. Security kits are available at a minimum cost.
  • Backup data and programs on a regular basis and store them offsite in a secure location.
  • Laptop computers are portable and easy targets for theft. Do not leave them unsecured or unattended.
  • Maintain records of serial numbers for all your computer equipment.
  • Employ anti-virus software, to reduce the chance of infection by computer viruses.
  • To protect against electrical power spikes, install surge protection or an uninterruptible power source

Liability Claim Protection

  • Ensure that life and safety features such as fire alarms, exit signs and emergency lights are operational and serviced as per applicable fire code specifications.
  • Clean all spills and wet floors immediately, post signs warning of wet or slippery floors and use non-slip rugs in your entranceway during winter months.
  • It is the responsibility of all staff to reduce the chance of suffering a loss. Preparation is your best defense against suffering a loss!
